The NC HBH Program provides visibility, education, marketing support and third party certification of homes for residential builders who build sustainable, high performance homes.

You will learn how to participate in the NC HBH Program, focusing on:
  • HBH program benefits such as education and technical assistance.
  • The benefits and HBH costs of residential green building.
  • An overview of the HBH checklist which includes many residential green strategies.

8:00 to 8:30 AM Check-in
8:30 to 12:30 PM NC HealthyBuilt Homes Orientation
12:30 to 1:00 PM Light Lunch provided following workshop

Current HBH Builder Members may attend the workshop at no cost - contact hbhcoordinator@ncsu.edu for additional information if your company is a Builder Member.

Who should attend:
Builders, designers, real estate brokers, energy raters, and other building professionals.

Note: Builder Members seeking certification of a home, and Energy Raters seeking recognition as an HBH Independent Inspector are required to attend one NC HealthyBuilt Homes Orientation.

Registration Fee:

Learning Objectives:
  • Overview of costs and benefits of residential green building practices in general, and the NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program. Specifically, why residential green building is necessary for people, the economy, and the environment.
  • Overview of basic residential green building issues; energy efficiency with Energy Star (a prerequisite), water efficiency, site preservation and development, other energy efficiency issues, renewable energy applications, indoor air quality practices, materials, and accessibility. Will illustrate how the NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program addresses these issues.
  • Resources for further research and professional development.
